How to get water out of your bounce house?

Getting a bounce house completely dry after a rain shower is one of the most important maintenance tasks you will perform. If you store it while it’s still damp, you are guaranteed to get mold and mildew. This will stain the vinyl and eat away at the stitching, ruining your investment.

  1. Remove Surface Water: With the unit partially deflated, push and sweep all the puddles of water off the sides.
  2. Drain Internal Water1: This is the critical step. Water gets inside through the seams. Unzip all the deflation zippers. With help from another person, lift and tilt sections of the bounce house so the trapped water runs out of the open zippers.
  3. Inflate and Air Dry: Once most of the water is out, re-inflate the bounce house. The blower will help push moist air out through the seams. Leave it inflated in a sunny, breezy spot for several hours.
  4. Towel Dry2: Go inside with towels and wipe down every single surface, paying special attention to corners and seams.
    You must be 100% certain it is "bone dry" before you roll it up for storage.

When should you not set up a bounce house?

You have a booking, but the weather forecast looks bad. Do you take the chance and set up, or do you cancel the rental and lose the income?

The best inflatables for wet conditions are specifically designed "water slides" or "wet/dry combo" units. These products are built with materials and features meant to handle water safely, like integrated sprinkler systems and pools.

There is a big difference between a "dry" bounce house and an inflatable designed for water. Trying to use a dry bouncer with water is a bad idea. Water will get trapped inside the internal baffles and will be almost impossible to remove, leading to destructive mold.

On the other hand, water slides and wet/dry combos are purpose-built.
